Kauiki Foundation Scholarship
The Kauiki Foundation was established in 2023 by a group of kamaʻāina committed to expanding educational and vocational opportunities for Native Hawaiians in the Hāna community. The Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting future generations through education, cultural preservation, and community service.
Eligibility
Preference is given to applicants of Native Hawaiian ancestry who reside in ZIP code 96713 (Hāna, Maui). While proof of ancestry is not required, applicants are expected to honor Native Hawaiian values of kūpono (integrity) and kūleana (responsibility).
Be a full-time student at an accredited 2- or 4-year college/university or trade/occupational school OR be a part-time student (minimum 6 credit hours) at an accredited institution or trade program.
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of:
2.5 (undergraduate)
3.0 (graduate students)Demonstrate meaningful service to others, including:
• Volunteer work with organizations, schools, churches, or community groups.
• Ongoing assistance to individuals that significantly supports their well-being.
• Service performed within the last 12 months.Previous Kauiki Foundation scholarship recipients are welcome to reapply; however, awards are not guaranteed for consecutive years.
Required Application & Supporting Documents
To be considered, applicants must submit the following:
Kauiki Foundation Scholarship Application ~ Completed and signed Kauiki Foundation Scholarship Application (fillable PDF may be submitted electronically or printed and mailed).
Official Transcript ~ Issued within the past six months and sent directly from the academic institution by April 15th.
A Letter of Acceptance ~ Required for first-year students.
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from teachers, advisors, counselors, mentors, or employers (Letters from friends and relatives are not accepted). Must be sent directly by the recommender by April 15th.
Kauiki Foundation Service Report Form(s) ~ Documenting volunteer service or assistance to others within the past 12 months.
Personal Statement (Maximum 4 pages, typed) addressing:
Reasons for pursuing higher education or training.
Choice of field of study.
Career goals.
Commitment to the preservation and perpetuation of Native Hawaiian culture.
Financial hardship, obstacles, or special circumstances.
Community service involvement and its personal impact.
Personal statements should be typed and no more than 4 pages. We kindly ask that you have your statement checked for spelling and grammar errors. Type “Personal Statement” at the top along with your first and last name.

Community Grant Program
Application Requirements & Guidelines
The Kauiki Foundation Community Grant Program supports organizations and initiatives that strengthen the Native Hawaiian community of Hāna, Maui, and surrounding areas within ZIP code 96713.
Purpose of the Grant Program
The Foundation provides financial support for projects that preserve and promote Hawaiian language, culture, and arts; improve educational opportunities; support community health and well‑being; and strengthen youth development and leadership in Hāna.
Eligibility Requirements
Projects must primarily serve residents of ZIP code 96713 (Hāna, Maui).
Applicants may include nonprofit organizations, community organizations, educational institutions, cultural organizations, or community health organizations. Organizations without nonprofit status may apply through a fiscal sponsor.
Types of Projects Supported
Examples include:
Hawaiian language and cultural education programs
Cultural arts and creative expression initiatives
Educational scholarships and workforce development programs
Community health and wellness initiatives
Youth leadership and development programs
Ineligible Projects
The Foundation generally does not fund:
Political campaigns or lobbying activities
Projects outside the Hāna (96713) service area
Religious programs intended primarily for worship
Retroactive funding for projects already completed
Grant Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a completed application including organizational information, project description, community need, cultural relevance, budget details, and expected outcomes.

Review and Selection
Applications will be evaluated based on alignment with the Foundation’s mission, community impact, cultural relevance, feasibility of the project, and financial transparency.
Grant Recipient Responsibilities
Recipients must use funds for the approved purpose, maintain financial records, and provide updates or reports on project outcomes.
